Dish TV HD Set-Top Box Upgradation Charges Reduced to Rs 799 All the Dish TV users with a Standard Definition Set-Top Box can upgrade to HD STB by paying Rs 799 to the company. Dish TV SD Box users can call the company for requesting the upgrade. Having said that, Dish TV is also providing one HD channel pack worth Rs 119 inside the Rs 799 charges. So for the HD Box, the company will charge Rs 680, and for the Special HD India Cricket Service pack, the charges will be Rs 119. Dish TV users can choose the channel pack of their wish through the company’s website or mobile app. Dish TV is providing a wide range of HD channel packs to the customers. Even on an HD Set-Top Box, users can watch SD channels, but the company says HD channels will provide five times better clarity compared to the SD ones. What Other DTH Operators are Charging for Upgrading from SD STB to HD Box? In contrast, Airtel Digital TV also allows its users to upgrade from an SD Set-Top Box to HD Set-Top Box. Airtel Digital TV users can upgrade to HD Box by paying Rs 699 charges and Rs 150 engineer charges, whereas for Airtel Xstream Box, the customers will have to pay Rs 1,999 and Rs 250 engineer charges. Tata Sky, on the flip side, is charging Rs 899 for upgrading users to HD Set-Top Box from an SD one. Also, both Airtel Digital TV and Tata Sky will not provide any channel pack while upgrading, so Dish TV has an advantage there. Notably, D2h is also charging the same Rs 799 charges for upgrading a customer from SD box to the HD box. That said, we’re not sure whether there are any engineer charges involved with Dish TV and D2h as the company did not mention the same.
