iQOO, the popular smartphone maker announced recently that it would be debuting the upcoming iQOO 8 series of devices at the ChinaJoy event that is set to take place in early August. The event, which is from July 30 to August 2 will be the debut stage for the entirety of the iQOO 8 series of devices, which is expected to feature more than two models, owing to increased customer bases. Now, ahead of the event, the display and its USP or unique selling point has been leaked, bringing us some information about the device prior to the official launch.

iQOO 8 Series to Feature E5 2K Res Displays!

According to tipster Abhishek Yadav (@yabhishekhd), the iQOO 8 series will make use of an E5 2K resolution display. This will be an LTPO panel with support for 10-bit colour. The handset will also come with a 120Hz refresh rate panel and, which will be a variable refresh rate panel, meaning that it will switch from 1Hz and 120Hz depending on the kind of content that is being consumed on the screen. This comes after previous rumours had suggested that the display could employ the services of a large punch-hole styled notch, so it seems that the display has been leaked or heavily rumoured, with some of it probably being true. To add to this, another famed tipster recently revealed that the iQOO 8 series of devices would be the first smartphones to make use of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888+ or 888 Plus chipset out of the box. The main core CPU of the SoC will supposedly be boosted to 2.995GHz, in contrast to 2.84GHz on the SD888. There is also a 20% improvement in AI performance. This will be paired with up to 12GB of RAM and an additional 4GB of virtual RAM. Storage-wise, the device should include 256GB of onboard storage. Furthermore, the device is expected to depend on a decently sized 4,500 mAh battery, with the star of the show being the whopping 120W charger that is a massive upgrade over the iQOO 7. The devices in the series are also expected to feature in-display fingerprint scanners and boot Origin OS based on Android 11 out of the box. Reports have suggested that the devices under this series could be launched in India sooner or later, probably before 2022, so it should be interesting to see how the pricing is handled for a flagship-grade device that can take the fight to the likes of OnePlus and Samsung.
