Low-Cost Plan Coming Soon for Netflix Mobile Phone Users Commenting on the development, a Netflix spokesperson told ET, “We will be testing different options in select countries where members can watch Netflix on their mobile device for a lower price and subscribe in shorter increments of time. Not everyone will see these options and we may never roll out these specific plans beyond the tests.” To recollect, last year Netflix CEO Reed Hastings had said, “It’s about what a movie ticket would cost. We would like consumers to compare it with that (movie ticket) than what they pay for cable TV.” Soon after Hastings comment Netflix chief product officer Greg Peters during the company’s October earnings announcement had said, “We are just getting started in India. We will experiment with other pricing models and see how that does in terms of being able to accelerate our growth and get more access. But even on the existing model, we feel like we have a long runway ahead of us in India.” No ETA Available for Low-Cost Plan Rollout The report did not reveal any estimated time for the rollout of this low-cost plan from Netflix for Indian users. Having said that, the plan will allow users to watch content only on a mobile app- be it Android or iOS. The plans which exist right now allows users to watch content both on mobile phone and desktop.
