Trai Ensures Pricing Freedom for Broadcasters Firstly, Trai noted that although the Trai tariff regime has been capable of bringing transparency into the pricing of channels and the DTH industry, in general, it has not been entirely successful in availing the full interest of the consumers because of the misuse of pricing flexibility given to the broadcasters and other service providers. Trai also noted that it has set up explicit revenue streams for the DPOs by means of NCF and for the broadcasters by means of pay channels....

MC Transmission Found to Have Partial Functioning Website Trai has been conducting inspections of these companies and has been noting whether or not these operators are abiding by the new norms. During the inspection, Trai is also taking a close look at the processes being followed to handle customer service and is also scrutinising websites for proper information. Postponement of Zero IUC Regime As per a new press release from the telecom regulator, the transition to the zero IUC regime has been postponed by a year. This means that until the end of 2020, the telecom operators will have to keep paying 6 paise per minute to each other for all the calls that they carry. This will be the case until December 31, 2020. After that starting 2021, the zero IUC regime would come into effect, where all the telecom operators will not have to pay any amount to carry the calls of other telecom operators....

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has said that telecom operators can get the E-band spectrum from the government in an administrative manner for the circles they have purchased spectrum for.
