Dish TV Brings New Long-Term Recharge Choices to the Customers The new tariff regime forced DTH and Cable TV operators to phase out the actual long-term channel packs. But to lock-in customers for a longer duration, DTH operators came out with long-term recharge offers. Basically, customers will have to recharge the same pack for a longer period, and in return, they will get extra benefits from the operator. As part of the new long-term recharge offers, Dish TV is providing up to 30 days or one month of free service along with free Set-Top Box swap service....

Disney+ Hotstar Accounts for Third of Total Disney+ User Base Christine McCarthy, the chief financial officer at the Walt Disney Company in the second quarter earnings call in early May said the “Disney+ Hotstar was the strongest contributor” to its net user additions. Further, McCarthy said that the Disney+ Hotstar made up “approximately a third of the total Disney+ subscriber base as of the end of the second quarter.” Crucially, McCarthy said that the average revenue per user (ARPU) at Disney+ Hotstar in the second quarter was “down significantly” due to “lower advertising revenue as a result” of the Indian Premier League (IPL) matches timing....

Facebook on Thursday said that its photo transfer tool is now available across the globe in several countries including India. The service was initially unveiled in December 2019, enabling users to transfer photos and videos to other third party services. The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has introduced the clause of sourcing gear or equipment for the Internet Service Providers (ISPs) from trusted companies only. According to an ET Telecom report, government-run companies such as Power Grid, Oil India, GAIL, RailTel, and more can only accept equipment that is on the ‘trusted’ list of the centre. The new direct shall be applicable from June 15, 2021. It is worth noting that a similar clause has been introduced for telecom companies as well....
