Aircel in Deep Trouble as NCLT, Indus Towers Approach NCLT Aircel distributors claim that the company is yet to return the pending dues for the products they took before the closure of services. “Aircel did not deliver the products or return their payments,” they added, as reported by PTI. There’s no update regarding Aircel on this matter though. Even in the past, we have heard Aircel distributors going against the company and they have now approached NCLT....

The Committee of Creditors (CoC) of Aircel has approached the Supreme Court (SC) to overrule the order of the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) that restrict them from selling the spectrum before the overall dues of the company are cleared. Because of the order, Aircel might have to move towards liquidation, which will hurt all of its lenders who are trying to recover their money from the company. To recall, the NCLAT order came back in April 2021, and it affected not only Aircel but also RCom, which is in a similar battle of paying dues to the Department of Telecommunications (DoT)....

As a part of the relief measures announced a few weeks back, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) had said that the definition of adjusted gross revenue (AGR) will be changed. Now, in a fresh development noted by ET Telecom, the DoT has amended the AGR definition and multiple non-telecom revenue items have been excluded for calculating the AGR amount. Non-telecom items such as dividends, property rent, and interest from the calculation of AGR dues have been excluded from the total calculation....

Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea (Vi), the private telecom operators in India, might get up to Rs 23,000 crore in total from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT). Both the telcos have to pay thousands of crores in adjusted gross revenue (AGR) dues to the DoT. To ensure the security of the payment against AGR dues, the telcos have to submit a Bank Guarantee (BG) to the DoT. But since the DoT has offered the telcos a moratorium of four years on the payment of AGR dues, there’s no need to maintain BGs as they are useless at the moment....

Airtel 5G Plus services have been launched for three cities in Rajasthan - Jaipur, Udaipur and Kota. All the mentioned three cities have a large population, and now they can access 5G networks for no additional cost if they are already using Airtel’s 4G services. With this launch, Airtel has expanded the reach of its 5G to a total of 42 cities. Airtel’s 5G Plus network is 5G NSA (non-standalone) and will work on most of the 5G smartphones in the Indian market today....

Bharti Airtel has awarded Aviat Networks, an expert in wireless transport solutions, a contract for E-band and Multi-band solutions to help with the 5G rollout. In a release, Aviat said that Airtel will deploy its all-outdoor WTM 4800 E-band and multi-band solutions to expand the capacity of the microwave backhaul network. This is the first time telcos in India are allowed to use E-band spectrum for backhaul purposes. It will be really important to support 5G networks as data consumption rises....

Airtel Business, the Business-to-Business (B2B) unit of Bharti Airtel, has appointed Ivo Pascucci as the Business Head for the United States of America (USA). Pascucci will be leading the business operations for OTTs, Enterprises, and Carriers in the US region, said Ajay Chitkara, Director and CEO of Airtel Business, in a LinkedIn post. Pascucci has experience of over 25 years in the international network business. Chitkara’s post confirms that Pascucci is based out of New Jersey....

With this plan, users get 200MB of data, Rs 99 worth of talktime, tariff calls at 1 paise per second, and SMS at Rs 1 for local texts and Rs 1.5 for STD texts. The Rs 99 plan comes with a total validity of 28 days....

TRAI has recently released the crowdsourced MySpeed October 2022 Data, which comprised 7,63,010 (download, upload) speed test results. These data samples consist of captured speed test results performed by users across India using the TRAI MySpeed Test on 3G/4G Networks. Out of 22 Telecom circles, Airtel touched the highest download speeds in 14 circles, which means Airtel Network was able to deliver a peak download speed on the live network, recorded after a user performed a speed test on TRAI MySpeed....
