Realme 5s to Offer Quad Camera Setup With 48MP Primary Lens Ever since its first launch, Realme is going after Chinese brand Xiaomi in India because it’s the leading smartphone brand with a market share of over 25%. Realme’ strategy is pretty simple- take on Xiaomi at its own game. Xiaomi released the Redmi Note 8 last month and it’s the best smartphone in the sub-Rs 10,000 price point right now. Earlier, Realme launched the Realme 5 at a starting price of Rs 9,999, but the Redmi Note 8 killed it with impressive specs on board. To stand a chance against the Redmi Note 8, Realme is now bringing the Realme 5s to the Indian market which may completely replace the Realme 5. As for the confirmed features, the Realme 5s will offer a quad-camera setup with a 48MP primary lens. It seems like only the primary sensor on the Realme 5s will be upgraded and the rest of the sensors will remain the same. Rumours also indicate the Realme 5s will pack a Full HD+ display and a USB Type-C port to take on the Redmi Note 8. The Redmi Note 8 offers 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage at Rs 9,999, so we’re expecting the same with the Realme 5s as well. Rest of the specs of Realme 5s may remain identical to the Realme 5- Snapdragon 665 SoC, 5000mAh battery, teardrop notch on the front and similar design. It will be interesting to see how Realme prices the Realme 5s. If the company opts for the Sony IMX586 sensor, then we’re expecting the price to exceed Rs 10,000 mark and even Rs 12,999 or Rs 11,999 prices are on the cards. That said, Realme may go for the Samsung ISOCELL GM1 sensor which we get on the Redmi Note 8 to keep the prices competitive. Realme 5s vs Redmi Note 8: What to Expect We have already rated the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 as the best smartphone under Rs 10,000 right now in India. The Redmi Note 8 features a Full HD+ display, Snapdragon 665 SoC, glass body, 4000mAh battery with fast charging, capable cameras and the software is optimised on the handset. The best part of the Redmi Note 8 is the RAM and storage; Xiaomi’s decision to offer 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage at Rs 9,999 is a master move. As for the Realme 5s, the phone will pack identical specs, but it will surely lose out on the design and build quality aspects. Realme smartphones look great because of the unique pattern designs which the company makes use of, but Xiaomi smartphones feel great when taken into the hands, thanks to the Gorilla Glass 5 usage. The battle between Xiaomi and Realme will heat up yet again as Realme is bringing competitors to three Xiaomi phones- Redmi Note 8, Redmi K20 and the Redmi K20 Pro, in the form of Realme 5s, Realme X2 or XT 730G and the Realme X2 Pro.
