There are similar options out there like Airtel Internet TV, but Jio’s entertainment solution console comes with a wide range of features that the other entertainment solutions do not offer. Also, Reliance Jio has announced that through the means of local cable operators (LCOs) like Hathway Cable and DEN Networks, the consumers will be able to access the channels on their TV as well. In its demonstration, Jio shows the set-top box hosting a game of FIFA 19 and said that the STB would be compatible with all game controllers and it would also bring with gaming companies to bring more games to the platform. In addition to this, there are also going to be MR and VR services as well for the subscribers. Lastly, there is going to be the JioCalll feature which allows video calling with up to four people at the same time through the fast JioFiber connection. The closest competitor to Reliance Jio’s set-top box in the market is Airtel Internet TV, which comes with Android TV support, and it lacks certain features like VR or MR. The box is priced at Rs 3,499 and currently ships OTT apps and more features which make it worthy of going against Reliance Jio set-top box.
