Xiaomi Redmi 8A: Specifications We Know Right Now Unlike the Redmi 7A, the Redmi 8A will feature a massive 6.2-inch HD+ display with 19.5:9 aspect ratio and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. Xiaomi says it would be the first phone in the segment to come with Gorilla Glass 5 protection. Xiaomi did not reveal the processor to be used on the Redmi 8A, but we’re expecting it to be the same Snapdragon 439 SoC we last saw on the Redmi 7A. It’s rumoured that the phone will come in three variants- 2GB+16GB, 3GB+32GB and 4GB+64GB. There will be a microSD card slot as well for storage expansion. Moving onto the cameras, the Redmi 8A will have the Sony IMX363 sensor on the rear side and the camera app will offer AI Night and AI Portrait modes. On the front, we will get to see an upgraded camera setup this time around. There may be a 13MP sensor on the front for selfies and video calls. Other confirmed specs of the Redmi 8A include 5000mAh battery with fast charging support and it will be the first phone in the segment to come with a USB Type-C port. According to a 91mobiles report, the base variant of the smartphone will be available at Rs 6,499, followed by the next variant (3GB+32GB) with a price of Rs 6,999. Lastly, the premium variant with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage could retail for Rs 8,999. That said, these are not the official prices of the Redmi 8A and we would suggest you to wait till 12 PM today for the official prices of the smartphone. The Redmi 7A will be available for purchase at as low as Rs 4,999 during the upcoming Flipkart Big Billion Days and Mi Diwali sale.
