Xiaomi Redmi Go Launch on March 19: What to Expect? The Redmi Go is an interesting handset from Xiaomi. The Redmi 6A which is the Chinese company’s full-fledged entry-level Android smartphone is priced at an aggressive Rs 5,999. And there’s no doubt that the Redmi Go’s price will be aggressive in India to appeal the first-time smartphone buyers. If it launches at Rs 3,999, it will eat up the market share of JioPhone 2 which is available at Rs 2,999 in India. The problem right now in the Indian market is there isn’t a good smartphone under Rs 5,000. We have options like the Nokia 1 and other Android Go phones from Lava and Micromax, but they have sub-par hardware. However, that’s not the case with Redmi Go as the phone comes powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 SoC, which was used on the Redmi 4A and 5A smartphones a couple of years ago. Some might feel that Xiaomi is offering an older chipset, but there isn’t a better one available in the sub-Rs 5,000 segment. Xiaomi Redmi Go: Specifications and Features Talking about the specifications of the Redmi Go, the phone rocks a 5-inch HD display with 720p resolution. It has a 16:9 display unlike the newly launched phones with 18:9 or 19:9 displays. The Redmi Go features hardware buttons for navigating through the phone. Under the hood, we have the Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 SoC, paired with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. To recall, Xiaomi used the same Snapdragon 425 chipset on both the Redmi 4A and Redmi 5A smartphones launched in 2017. The Redmi Go will have a single 8MP shooter on the rear side paired with an LED flash. Up front, users will have the option to click selfies and make video calls via the 5MP shooter. The phone rocks a 3000mAh battery. The Redmi Go is an Android Go smartphone and the device runs the Android Oreo (Go Edition) software out of the box. However, it’s unknown at the moment whether Xiaomi has customised the UI to MIUI. If Xiaomi providers stock Android with the Redmi Go, it will appeal more audience out there.
